What Is the Best Way to Make Extra Virgin Coconut Oil?

The best way to make extra Virgin Coconut oil is to start out with some very ripe coconuts. Typically coconuts can be harvested early, but if you harvest them when they are 13 to 14 months old when they are about to fall off of the tree, then you can actually get more oil from each coconut. If you are planning on making one litter of coconut oil, you’re going to need to process about 14 coconuts. What you’re going to have to do is to separate the meat from the coconut shell and to put all of the meat in a blender. Then, you’re going to want to blend it on high for at least 5 min.

When you blend your coconuts, it helps to separate the oil from the coconut meat. Then, you want to strain the coconut oil and take out all of the unwanted hard stuff that hasn’t broken down yet. Then, you want to pour all of the coconut juice into a large bucket. Allow it to sit at temperatures that are above 75° for 24 to 48 hours. As you allow it to sit, the coconut oil will separate into layers. The layer that is on the very top is the layer of virgin coconut oil. If you pour it into smaller containers and put it into the fridge, then the oil will solidify. Once it solidifies it turns white and it is fairly easy to remove from the other container. The other layers will provide you with some nutritional value, but the bulk of your nutritional value is going to be found inside of the coconut oil. That is why coconut oil is so important.

Once you are done making your coconut oil, you can use it as a skin cream, you can use it to make coconut oil popcorn, or you can use it as a dietary supplement. Just make sure that whatever you do, you will enjoy it a lot, because even though it is very hard to make from scratch, it takes a lot of work.
